Is it permissible to prevent a husband from [seeing] his wife who harms the second wife verbally, knowing that the second wife invoked [a curse upon] the first wife after long patience, and as a result of this invocation, the first wife's daughter died?

If the co-wife causes harm, there is reward in patiently enduring it. It is not permissible for a woman to ask her husband to divorce her co-wife, due due to the Hadith: «It is not lawful for a woman to ask for the divorce of her sister (co-wife) in order to empty her plate (take all the husband to herself), for she will only have what has been decreed for her.»

Similarly, it is not permissible to incite him not to go to her, because he is obligated to be just in spending nights between his wives. The basis of division (of time) is the night, because the night is for dwelling and the day is for earning a livelihood.

However, if the husband wishes to divorce her co-wife, the wife is not obliged to ask him to keep her.

But it is permissible for her to ask him to stop her harm and prevent her aggression towards her, and to protect herself from her evil and harm without transgression or aggression against the co-wife’s right.
