Is it permissible to give zakat to a poor, unmarried woman who has no provider and does not work, and who lives on charitable donations, knowing that she possesses a small amount of money from which she pays zakat?

It is permissible to give Zakat to a woman who possesses money for trade or speculation if the return from her money is not sufficient for her, even if Zakat is obligatory upon her wealth. However, if the profit from her money is sufficient for her, or if she does not trade with it but saves it and it would suffice her if she spent from it, then she is not given from Zakat. But if it is not sufficient for her, she is given what suffices her for one year.
