The statement attributed to Sufyan ibn Uyaynah in interpreting the : "Every deed of the son of Adam is for him, except fasting, for it is for Me, and I shall reward for it," by saying that fasting will not be taken from him for creditors on the Day of Resurrection, is refuted by the hadith of the bankrupt person narrated by Muslim. In it, the bankrupt person comes on the Day of Resurrection with prayers, fasting, and , then his good deeds, including fasting, are taken to settle his injustices. This indicates that the reward for fasting, like other acts of worship, will be taken for creditors on the Day of Resurrection.
