Who vowed that a polytheist would not touch him?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

It is not known that any of the Companions vowed that a polytheist would not touch him. However, the Companion Asim ibn Thabit pledged to Allah that no polytheist would touch him, nor would he touch any polytheist. When Banu Lahyan besieged him, they offered him a covenant, but he refused to descend under the protection of a disbeliever and fought until he was killed. Quraish sent men to cut off a piece of his body, but Allah sent a swarm of wasps that protected him from their messengers. Umar ibn al-Khattab said concerning Asim: "Allah protects the believing servant after his death just as He protected him during his life."
