What are the scholars' views regarding musical instruments that are forbidden in Sharia, and is there a concession for using songs with musical instruments other than the tambourine at weddings to avoid a greater harm?

"Nasheeds" accompanied by musical instruments are unanimously forbidden. Any reported permissibility of some forms thereof is a slip that should not be followed. Islamic nasheeds not accompanied by musical instruments are permissible and are available. It is not permissible to resort to the forbidden on the pretext that the family imposes another type of forbidden song; rather, the available alternative must be provided, and the prohibition of music must be clarified. Maher Zain's nasheeds are to be measured against the foregoing.
