Is the testimony of a person of unknown parentage accepted in Islam?

It is not a condition for a witness to be of known lineage; rather, justice and the absence of accusation are required. The testimony of a foundling is permissible if he is just, because he is a free Muslim. Some scholars have rejected his testimony specifically in cases of fornication, such as Malik's view, because he might be accused of being born out of wedlock.
