Is acting in university theater forbidden?

Scholars have differed regarding the ruling on acting. Therefore, we advise the questioner to avoid this field, as it is often not free of Shariah prohibitions. There is nothing comparable to safety in one's religion, and avoiding doubtful matters is a religious requirement. It is stated in the Hadith: "The best of your religion is piety (wara')," and piety is avoiding doubtful matters for fear of falling into forbidden ones. So, stay away and focus on your university studies, and strive in obedience to Allah and in acquiring beneficial knowledge.
