What is the ruling on studying acting and pursuing it as a profession?

Acting is a financial gain for its practitioners, based on pandering to the audience's instincts and desires. Most actors lack piety and righteousness, and their portrayal of righteous characters is for money. The reality of acting is mere amusement and entertainment, and they depict historical events that are unverified. For these reasons, acting has no place in Islam, and a Muslim is not advised to learn it, with the exception of portraying Prophets and Companions, which is absolutely forbidden.
