Will we truly wait 50,000 years on the Day of Gathering (Yawm al-Mahshar)? And will the duration of a year be the same as its current duration? How will we endure this period without food or drink? What is the wisdom behind this waiting? And how can one avoid it to enter Paradise directly?

People's conditions in the Great Assembly (Yawm al-Hashr) will vary according to their conditions in this world. The waiting period of fifty thousand years is specifically for disbelievers, hypocrites, and criminals, as a form of torment for them. As for the believers, it will be lightened for them, to the extent that it will be easier for them than an obligatory prayer. Enduring this period without water and food is possible in the Hereafter because its affairs are not to be measured by those of this world. To avoid the horrors of the Day of Judgment, a person should strive to acquire the characteristics of the people of Paradise, so as to enter it without reckoning or punishment.
