Must parents prevent their children (13-18 years old) from committing haram by all means, or is it sufficient for them to merely clarify, and to what extent are they responsible for their children after puberty in preventing them from committing acts of disobedience?

The responsibility of parents towards their children is significant, encompassing discipline, upbringing, and care. If the children are acting contrary to Islamic law, parents must exert effort in guiding them through encouragement, deterrence, advice, and supplication. Scholars have agreed on the continuation of parental responsibility for a girl until she marries. They differed regarding the male, yet they unanimously agreed on the continuation of this responsibility if there is a fear of corruption or bad company for the children. Evils within the home should not be tolerated silently, but the greater good should be considered; if preventing them leads to a greater evil outside the home, they might be overlooked.
