Is it permissible, Islamically, to keep the money from the agricultural crop's zakat, knowing that the lands are not owned, with the aim of investing it in private studies due to lack of success in university and the need for transportation expenses, or to keep a portion of it to buy monthly and expensive medication for the father who suffers from clogged arteries, knowing that the father works as a lawyer and his income is insufficient to cover the expenses?

Zakat is obligatory on crops and grains when their conditions are met, and it is to be given from the crop itself, unless giving its value in cash is more beneficial for the poor. As for vegetables and fruits, the majority of scholars hold that Zakat is not obligatory on them directly, but rather on their value if a year has passed over it and it reaches the nisab. The fact that the land is not owned by the farmer does not negate the obligation of Zakat if its conditions are met, and it is not permissible to delay giving Zakat to its rightful recipients when one is able to pay it.
