If you purchased the land without the intention of trading, then there is no zakat due on you for it. If the land is cultivated with crops on which zakat is due, then the zakat is on your father because he is the owner of the crops. Zakat is obligatory on every zakatable species if it reaches five wasqs. If the land is irrigated by rainwater, then its zakat is one-tenth. If it is irrigated by machinery, then its zakat is one-half of one-tenth. As for fruits and vegetables, there is no zakat on their intrinsic value; rather, zakat becomes obligatory on their price if a year has passed over it and it reaches the threshold (nisab).
