Is it permissible to perform اعتکاف at home when mosques are closed due to the coronavirus pandemic?

I'tikaf is the staying in a mosque for the obedience of Allah Almighty. It is an act of worship exclusive to mosques and is not valid elsewhere. This is indicated by the texts of the Qur'an and Sunnah, and the consensus of scholars. It has been authentically reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him), his wives, and his companions performed their i'tikaf in mosques. Whoever is unable to perform i'tikaf in the mosque due to an irresistible cause will be rewarded for their intention and resolve, because Allah records the reward of an action for a servant if they intended it but were unable to perform it, or if they were prevented by illness or travel. Furthermore, striving in worship during Ramadan is not limited to i'tikaf, as the doors of worship are diverse.
