Does watching cartoon series and playing video games fall under God's warning to image-makers, knowing that the one who watches or plays them is not the one who made the images, and that the reason for the prohibition is the imitation of God's creation?

Cartoon films are not subject to the same strictures as photography regarding the prohibition, and the ruling on watching them varies depending on their nature. What is beneficial and purposeful is permissible, whereas what contains a violation of doctrine or promotes corruption is not permissible. Sheikh Ibn 'Uthaymeen was asked about the ruling on televised cartoon images, and he replied that if they are in human form, the ruling on them is uncertain, though the stronger opinion is that they are not equivalent to real images. If they are in non-human form, there is no harm in watching them, unless accompanied by something forbidden like music or if they distract from an obligation.
