Does a vow to fast one day and break the fast the next end upon the marriage contract, or is consummation required?

The end of a vow (nadhr (definition)) depends on the intention. If the intention was the marriage contract (aqd), then it ends when the contract is concluded. If it was the consummation (dukhool), then it does not end until consummation occurs. If there was no specific intention, then it appears that its end is with consummation, because that is what achieves the means of chastity, and the contract alone does not achieve it. The reason for making the vow is the bachelorhood that led to sin, and this situation is not alleviated merely by the contract.
