If you uttered the specified divorce formula while conscious of what you were saying, then, according to the majority of scholars, the divorce takes effect if the wife goes to her uncle; otherwise, it does not. If the divorce takes effect, you may reconcile with her before her waiting period (iddah (definition)) ends, provided you have not divorced her twice before. Her waiting period ends with her purification from the third menstrual cycle, or after three months for a woman who does not menstruate, or upon delivering her child for a pregnant woman. If the waiting period ends and you have not reconciled, a new marriage contract is required. However, if you had divorced her twice before, and then she went to her uncle's house, she is forbidden to you and will not become lawful for you unless she marries another husband. If you uttered the divorce while not conscious of what you were saying due to extreme anger, then nothing is incumbent upon you.
