The answer

It is obligatory for the husband to treat his wife kindly and to provide for her financially. The wife is not obligated to spend from her private money unless she voluntarily chooses to do so. It is not permissible for the wife to leave the house or work outside without her husband's permission, unless this was stipulated in the marriage contract, or if the husband is in financial hardship and unable to provide for her. Whatever a woman earns from her work is her exclusive right, unless the husband stipulates taking a portion of it to allow her to work. The foundation of the marital relationship is affection, mercy, and understanding.
