Is it obligatory to remain in a land of disbelief in order to care for one's mother, or is it permissible to emigrate to an Islamic country with one's husband despite the mother's objection?

Filial piety and obedience to parents are obligatory, but obedience to the husband takes precedence over obedience to parents. It is obligatory for the wife to accompany her husband on journeys and to move with him if he provides her with a suitable life and there is no harm to her. The husband has the right to travel with his wife even if she dislikes it. The wife is entitled to maintenance by fully enabling the husband to himself.

If the husband stipulated travel in the marriage contract or before it, and the woman agreed, then it is obligatory for her to obey her husband in traveling with him, while gently apologizing to her mother and maintaining filial piety and ties with her. However, if the condition was during the engagement period and the mother was in need of her daughter, we advise remaining with the mother and marrying in the same place of residence.
