Is it obligatory to obey one's mother and return to the home country without the husband's approval and with the difficulty of leaving the children in a disbelieving country, or is it obligatory to obey the husband and remain with the children?

Rejoice in the reward from Allah for your devotion to your mother and your patience. The key to patience is the realization of one's desires and the alleviation of distress. However, attention must be paid to certain Sharia rulings:

1. It is forbidden for a woman to travel without a mahram. She is not permitted to travel except with her husband or a mahram.

2. The husband has the right to prevent his wife from traveling to visit her parents if her travel would lead to harm (such as fear for the children or for her life, or the unavailability of a mahram and the husband's preoccupation). In this case, it is not permissible for the wife to disobey her husband. However, if harm is averted and a mahram is available, then the husband is not permitted to prevent her from showing devotion to her parents and visiting them.

3. Avoid residing in lands of disbelievers due to the corruption they pose to religion and morals.
