Once a valid marriage contract is concluded, the woman becomes a wife, and it is permissible for her husband to enjoy her and be alone with her. However, if the custom of the land dictates that the husband cannot be with his wife until he gives a certain thing (such as sacrificing a sheep), it is preferable for the husband to adhere to that as a recommended act, because what is known by custom is like what is stipulated by condition, and because it gains the favor of the wife and her family.
