The answer

It is permissible to change one's personal name, and there is no sin in it. However, changing one's father's name and attributing oneself to someone other than him is one of the grave sins and is not permissible except out of a compelling necessity, which then ceases upon the disappearance of that necessity. It is important to note that changing the name must not lead to the loss of people's rights. Furthermore, there is no need to perform the marriage contract twice; rather, it is written with the second name established in official departments. It is obligatory to record the family tree for the children to clarify who their mahrams are and to maintain kinship ties.
