What are the appropriate behaviors and duties, and how should one deal with his fiancée? What is the difference between the first "reading of the Fatiha" upon agreement and the second "reading of the Fatiha" at the wedding? Is it permissible to discuss the details of future marital life with the fiancée?

A man remains a stranger to his fiancée until the marriage contract (aqd an-nikah (definition)) is concluded. Nothing from her is permissible for him to see except what is desirable for marriage (the face and hands). The contract is only finalized through offer and acceptance between the woman's guardian (wali) and the husband or his representative, and not merely by reciting Al-Fatihah. Upon completion of the contract, the woman becomes a wife, and it becomes permissible for the man to sit with her and do with her what a husband does with his wife.
