The question

What is the ruling on the work of a betrothed woman who suffers from loneliness and emptiness, in a Quran memorization society that receives applications from prospective students, knowing that most applicants are women, and that she will adhere to the full hijab, and there is no private seclusion with men except for the director of the institute and some lecturers, and interaction with them is kept to the bare minimum? And is her work considered a breach of her promise to her fiancé, who completely refused her working after initially agreeing to it?

The answer

The suitor has no authority over his fiancée before the marriage contract. Therefore, he has no right to prevent her from working, and she is not obliged to obey him in this matter. As for your work in the Qur'an memorization society, there is no harm in it if it is free from শরী'আ-forbidden things, such as unlawful mixing; otherwise, it is not permissible. We advise you to complete the marriage so that your husband can take on the responsibility of providing for you. We also draw attention to the fact that the default position for a woman is to remain in her home, as it is better for her, and she can occupy her time with what benefits her.
