How can one deal with the strained relationship between the wife and the elderly, sick father, while trying to satisfy both parties and avoid God's wrath, given the son's refusal to move out and live away from his father?

The wife has a right to housing, the nature of which is determined by custom, the husband's financial situation, and the wife's circumstances. She has the right to demand independent housing if she is harmed by living with her husband's parents. The husband must provide this for her, unless she is not harmed and the husband's father is in need of his son's care. In that case, she does not have this right, to avoid exposing the father to neglect, while observing the Hadith (definition): "There should be neither harm nor reciprocating harm."

The wife may request independent housing if she is harmed by the husband's father or anyone else. It is advised to be patient with the father's harm due to his old age and illness.
