Providing the wife with a suitable and separate dwelling, away from her husband's family or co-wife, is her right and the husband's duty. This is based on Allah's saying: "Lodge them where you dwell, according to your means, and do not displease them by making their lives difficult." This is because a shared dwelling compromises privacy and tranquility and weakens affection between the spouses.

The husband should prioritize the legitimate objectives of the Sharia and the dictates of reason. He can spend time with his family while maintaining his independence with his wife.

A wife is not obligated to serve her husband's mother or father; her only obligation is to serve her husband. If she volunteers to do so, it is a kindness from her for which she should be thanked.

It is advisable to discuss the matter calmly with the husband and explain the Sharia ruling to him. If she is unable to convince him, she may seek the help of wise family members, while emphasizing gentleness and wisdom in her approach.

Divorce should not be considered unless the situation becomes unmanageable and the wife can no longer endure it, especially if there are children.
