The question

What is the ruling on aborting a fetus due to the mother's chronic and widespread disease in her body, her inability to bear a third pregnancy and childbirth, in addition to her urgent need for chemotherapy which may deform the fetus, along with the consequences of her illness such as her inability to care for her children and household affairs, and the impact of that on her psychological state and that of her daughter?

The answer

The basic principle is that abortion is Islamically forbidden. However, if the mother's life is feared to be in danger, abortion becomes permissible, because preserving a life that is certain takes precedence over one that is presumed. This is determined by specialized doctors. Based on this, if doctors rule that abortion is necessary for your wife, then there is no blame in what you have done.
