Is it permissible to give sixty needy people their expiatory feeding in the form of raw rice, and is it valid to distribute it all at once to one poor family? And what is the amount of food for each individual?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
Feeding sixty poor people as expiation means giving each poor person half a sa‘ of the staple food of the land, uncooked. It is also permissible to cook food for sixty poor people and gather them to eat it. It is not permissible to give all of it to a poor family whose number is less than sixty, but it is permissible to give half a sa‘ to a single poor person from multiple expiations.
