Sexual intercourse during the daytime in is a heinous sin. The husband is obligated to perform five expiations according to most scholars if the intercourse occurred on separate days. It is permissible to expiate by feeding the poor according to the Maliki school, while the majority of scholars do not permit it except for those unable to fast or those for whom it causes extreme hardship. As for the wife, the more correct opinion is that expiation is not obligatory upon her.
