Fidyah and Expiation
- Is it permissible to pay the expiation for two oaths—feeding 20 needy persons—from the fidyah (slaughtering a goat) designated as an offering of gratitude after surviving an accident, or must the needy be fed first, and the fidyah be offered later?
- Is breaking the fast by a nurse who is caring for a father suffering from a semi-comatose state and not fasting considered an expiation (fidyah) for the father's not fasting?
- Is expiation (kaffara) obligatory for an elderly, ill woman who broke her fast in Ramadan due to illness after her health deteriorated, and should she pay it herself or should her son pay it, and in what currency should the payment be made?
- Am I obligated to make up a day of fasting if I am uncertain whether a year has passed since it was missed, and is it permissible for me to be cautious by feeding a needy person even if I do not possess the money, and is it permissible for my father to pay it on my behalf, and must the food be cooked?
- What is incumbent upon a husband who broke his fast in Ramadan due to a kidney illness, then in another Ramadan due to the coronavirus, and did not make up the days he missed in either Ramadan?
- Is it permissible for me to break my fast in Ramadan out of concern for the fetus's health, given that I suffer from cholestasis in the liver and must take medications on time, and must I make up for the fast and offer expiation if I break it?
- Is the husband required to pay the Fidyah for fasting on behalf of his wife who has diabetes and is unable to fast or pay the Fidyah herself?

- Is it a condition for a miskin (needy person) to be an adult and of sound mind when giving the expiatory food mentioned in the noble verse: (fidyah [expiation] of feeding a miskin)? And do the children of the miskin and those he supports count in the number when feeding thirty miskin? And is it permissible to give money instead of food, and how is this feeding estimated?
- Is it permissible for a woman afflicted with vestibular dizziness, which causes her extreme hardship during fasting, to break her fast in Ramadan and offer fidyah for each day?
