How are the value and method of giving Zakat al-Fitr, the expiation (fidya) for the remaining days of make-up for past Ramadan, and the expiation (fidya) for making up Ramadan days from 2008 determined, and is a delay expiation (fidya) required for each year?

There is a difference between zakat (definition) al-Fitr and the *fidyah (definition)* (expiation) for a pregnant woman breaking her fast:

- Zakat al-Fitr: Obligatory upon every Muslim who possesses surplus wealth beyond his and his dependents' sustenance for the day and night of Eid. - *Fidyah* for a pregnant woman breaking her fast: Becomes obligatory for a pregnant woman if she breaks her fast out of fear for the fetus. This involves feeding one indigent person for each day, in addition to the obligation of making up the missed fasts (*qada'*). Paying the monetary value is not sufficient. If a pregnant woman breaks her fast out of fear for herself, or for herself and her fetus, she is only required to make up the missed fasts (*qada'*).

Regarding continuous bleeding (*istihada* - irregular bleeding): If the bleeding continues for more than fifteen days, it is considered *istihada*. - Differentiation: It is possible to differentiate between menstrual blood (*hayd*) and *istihada* blood by color, smell, or consistency. Whatever has the characteristics of menstrual blood is considered *hayd*, unless it exceeds the maximum duration of *hayd*; anything beyond that is *istihada*. - Habitual Period: If she cannot differentiate, she should refer to her usual habit and consider that period as *hayd*, and anything beyond that is *istihada*. - Making up Missed Fasts (*Qada'*): For every fast that a pregnant woman delayed making up until another Ramadan (definition) began without a valid excuse, she is obliged to offer a *fidyah* for each day in addition to making up the fast.
