The answer

If the questioner's brother fasted twenty days with the intention of making up for missed fasts, he is not required to fast more than that. If he fasts extra days voluntarily, that is good.

However, if he delayed making up the fasts until the following without a valid شرعي excuse, he must feed one poor person for each day (approximately 750 grams of rice). He is not required to make up more than the number of days he delayed.

If he delayed making up the fasts due to a valid excuse, such as illness or travel, he is only required to make up the fasts.

Doubt about the validity of the fast after its completion is not taken into consideration.
