The fasting person does not break their fast by the insertion of an instrument into the brain, spinal cord, or vertebral column for examination or sampling purposes. The resolution of the Islamic Fiqh Academy states that the entry of any instrument or medicinal substances into the brain or spinal cord is not considered among the things that break the fast.
