"Iftar for the fasting person" means offering something wholesome to eat, which is the first thing the fasting person consumes. This act carries a great reward. It is narrated from Salman al-Farisi that whoever provides iftar for a fasting person will have their sins forgiven, their neck freed from the Fire, and a reward similar to that of the fasting person. This reward is granted even if it is with a date, a sip of milk, or a drink of water. This reward is given to whoever provides iftar for a fasting person during Ramadan from lawful earnings. And what is offered must be the first thing the fasting person eats, so that it can truly be said that they were provided iftar.
