The answer

It is permissible for a fasting person to swim if they are reasonably certain that water will not enter their stomach through their mouth or nose, and if they are skilled at swimming and can ensure the preservation of their fast. However, it is disliked for a fasting person to exaggerate in sniffing water (istanshāq) for fear of water entering their stomach.

However, if they are reasonably certain that water will enter their stomach due to swimming, then it is not permissible for them to do so, and in such a case, swimming during the daytime in becomes forbidden for them.
