Must a person who drank alcohol at night in Ramadan make up the day or offer expiation?

Drinking alcohol at night does not affect the validity of the fast, as night is not the time for fasting, based on the Almighty's saying: "Then complete the fast until the night." It is a condition to have the intention to fast from the night, according to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Whoever does not intend to fast from the night, there is no fast for him." There is no need for قضى (making up the fast) or كفارة (expiation). Drinking alcohol is a major sin, and its حرمة (prohibition) is intensified in Ramadan (definition).
