What is the ruling on someone who owes an expiation for intercourse (kaffarat jima') but is unable to perform it due to embarrassment from fasting in front of their family? Is it permissible for them to feed (the poor) with the intention of fasting should they get a two-month leave to fast away from their family, knowing that the second Ramadan has arrived and they have not yet fasted?

Whoever has sexual intercourse during the daytime in Ramadan (definition) must immediately repent and offer expiation. The expiation is to free a slave; if one cannot find a slave, then to fast for two consecutive months; if one is unable to do that, then to feed sixty poor people. Shame before family is not an excuse for delaying the expiation. He must also make up for the day he invalidated. If he delays making up the day, despite being able to, until another Ramadan begins, then in addition to making up the day, he must feed one poor person.
