Is it obligatory for a young man who vowed to Allah to repent, and who has been afflicted with watching forbidden things on the computer after having stopped masturbating and lowered his gaze, to completely abandon the computer to rid himself of this temptation, despite using it to seek religious knowledge?

The computer is a machine with which Allah has blessed us. Whoever uses it for good will find it beneficial. One must be extremely cautious of the evils within it. Therefore, it is advised to record useful things and try to program it with friends to study scholarly texts, Tajweed (definition) lessons, and memorize the Qur’an. It is also advised to marry for chastity, frequently observe voluntary fasts and [recite] invocations, read books on encouragement and deterrence, remember the prohibition and harms of the unlawful, frequently advise brothers, and seek help from good friends.
