What is the ruling on a Muslim woman marrying a Christian man? What if she converts to Christianity? And what is the ruling on a father who accepts, blesses, and publicly announces such a marriage?
The marriage of a Muslim woman to a non-Muslim is not permissible. A woman who marries a disbeliever is considered an adulteress, based on the Almighty's saying: "Neither are they [the believing women] lawful for them [the disbelievers], nor are they [the disbelievers] lawful for them [the believing women]." If a Muslim woman converts to Christianity, she has committed apostasy, which is a greater sin than adultery. In this case, her marriage is not valid, neither to a Muslim nor to a disbeliever. The father who agrees to and approves of this marriage has committed a grave sin by deceiving his dependents and exposing his daughter to God's punishment and wrath. Furthermore, his boasting about it indicates the weakness of his faith.
