What is the ruling on Muslim relatives assisting the relatives of a deceased non-Muslim woman in dividing her inheritance, given that they are unaware if it conforms to Islamic law, and that the relatives of the deceased might violate what she wrote before her death? And what is the ruling on Muslim relatives possessing a gift from the relatives of the deceased non-Muslim woman from their share of the inheritance?

The relatives of the Muslim heirs should leave them to their own devices and not interfere with or assist in the division of the inheritance, as this might contravene the Sharia (definition)-compliant division, and assisting in such is impermissible. What the jurists mentioned about not interfering with the People of the Book in their rulings does not mean that it is permissible for them to violate the Islamic Sharia; rather, they are sinful because they are addressed by its subsidiary rulings. It is not for the Muslim ruler to follow the affairs of the disbelievers or invite them to our ruling unless they seek our judgment. As for one of them waiving their share for their Muslim relative, it is an acceptable gift, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, accepted the gift of the Muqawqis of Egypt.
