In plain terms

Zakat al-Fitr is a fixed charitable payment due from every Muslim at the end of Ramadan, before the Eid al-Fitr prayer. It is usually given as a set amount of staple food, or its value. It is separate from the annual zakat on wealth, and doesn't depend on nisab.
