Is a person held accountable if they thought about going for Umrah then changed their mind and went on holiday to another place?
One should hasten to perform the obligatory Hajj, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Hasten to perform Hajj, for none of you knows what may befall him." And as Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "Whoever dies without having performed Hajj, while having the means to do so, then it does not matter if he dies a Jew or a Christian." As for voluntary Hajj or , a person may change their mind as long as they have not yet entered the rituals, based on the verse: (And complete the Hajj and Umrah for Allah) (Quran 2:196). And they may choose the appropriate time, and there is no blame upon them if they decide to perform it then retract their decision.
