Sincere repentance from dealing with usury is obligatory, along with remorse for this grave sin, for which Allah has threatened its perpetrator. Allah Almighty said: (O you who have believed, fear Allah and give up what remains [due to you] of interest, if you should be believers). And His saying: (Allah destroys interest and gives increase for charities. And Allah does not like every sinful disbeliever), and the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "A dirham of usury that a man consumes knowingly is worse than thirty-six acts of fornication." It is also obligatory to hasten to repay this usurious debt.
