What is the ruling on one who threw the pebbles at Jamrat al-Aqaba al-Kubra on the Day of Sacrifice in the wrong place, believing it to be the correct place, knowing that he threw on behalf of himself and two of his mahram women?

It is a condition for the stoning of the jamarāt that the pebbles fall into their designated place, which is the heap of stones. Whoever hits the heap has fulfilled the obligation, while whoever hits the surrounding area has not. The Hanafis, however, broadened this, considering the fall of the pebbles close to the jamrah to be sufficient due to excuse and difficulty. The small and middle jamarāt can be stoned from any direction, whereas Jamrat al-Aqaba is stoned from one direction, with the jamrah to the right of the thrower, facing the Qibla (definition).

Thus, whoever is not certain that their stoning was performed in the described manner has not fulfilled the obligation for themselves nor for anyone they deputized, and they owe a sacrificial offering (dam) for abandoning a duty among the duties of Hajj.
