Does envy diminish or halt one's provision? And is there a connection between changing the threshold of a house and one's provision?

There is no sacred text that states that envy (hasad (definition)) reduces or cuts off sustenance (rizq). However, sins do cause deprivation of it, as stated in the Hadith (definition): "Indeed, a man may be deprived of provision by a sin he commits." Among the reasons for attracting sustenance are seeking forgiveness (istighfar) and piety (taqwa (definition)), as in the Almighty's saying: "And I said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever Forgiving. He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [abundance]'" (Quran 71:10-11), and His saying: "And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out And will provide for him from where he does not expect" (Quran 65:2-3).

Allah has commanded seeking refuge from the evil of the envier. Changing the threshold of the house has no relation to sustenance, unless "threshold of the house" refers to the wife, as in the story of Abraham with Ishmael's wife. A woman or a house can be an ill omen, as in the Hadith: "Ill omen is in the woman, the house, and the horse." A righteous woman is not an ill omen for her husband.
