The answer

It is not possible to determine if the wife can be reformed based on the information provided, and good character can be acquired through wise interaction. Enmity can be transformed into love through kindness, as Allah Almighty said: "Repel evil with that which is better, and thereupon he between whom and you was enmity [will become] as though he were a devoted friend." As for jealousy, she should be guided to understand that it is a trial, and she must mitigate its effects to avoid injustice and slander. Beating and verbally abusing the wife is a reprehensible act and contradicts good companionship; moreover, she has the right to retaliation. Since there are children, divorce has detrimental effects on them. It is advisable to take her back under specific conditions and principles after a session with wise individuals from both sides. Divorce should not be resorted to unless cohabitation becomes impossible and the benefit of divorce outweighs other considerations.
