Is what befell me of sorcery a punishment for my intention to perform a sorcery of love for a girl who did not love me?

Whoever resolves to commit a sin and spends money on it, but it does not materialize, is considered sinful, for the intention to sin is recorded as a bad deed. Ignorance of something being forbidden lifts the sin if the person was unable to learn. As for the magic that afflicted the questioner, there is nothing to definitively assert that its cause was his resolution and effort to perform magic on that girl. Repentance and treatment with ruqyah (definition) are advised.
