The basic ruling on begging and asking people for money is that it is forbidden in Islamic law and naturally disliked, according to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) : "Begging is not permissible except for one of three [types of people]..." Anyone other than these, their begging is unlawful gain. The prohibition and unlawfulness are further emphasized if it is accompanied by fraud and deception. Unemployed individuals must seek lawful work and strive diligently in that, and humble themselves before Allah, asking Him to enrich them from His bounty.
