The question

What is the ruling on the supplications (du'as) prevalent on social media, which were not narrated from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and do not contain any transgression in supplication, such as: "My Lord, I ask You for success that accompanies my steps, and a life filled with all that is beautiful"?

The answer

A supplication like this is permissible as long as it does not involve sin or severance of kinship ties, and there is no transgression in it. However, supplications that are authentically transmitted (ma'thur) are more virtuous, beneficial, and carry greater blessings.
