The fundamental principle is to prohibit the sale of satellite dishes and televisions except to those known to use them for permissible purposes. Whoever traded in them in a forbidden manner must repent to Allah and cease doing so. As for the wealth acquired before knowing of the prohibition, we hope that Allah will forgive him, especially if he relied on a fatwa (definition) that permitted it. However, any remaining forbidden goods in his possession or their price constitute unlawful wealth that must be disposed of by spending it in charitable ways. "And whoever gives up something for the sake of Allah, Allah will compensate him with something better than it."
