Is it permissible to hold two congregational prayers in one place at the same time, such as one congregation praying the ‘Isha’ (night) prayer while another congregation prays Tarawih in the same place? What is your guidance for imams and for those who are late for the ‘Isha’ prayer? And is it permissible for me to pray with the imam with the intention of praying ‘Isha’ while he intends to pray Qiyam (Tarawih)?

A Muslim should hasten to perform good deeds, especially in Ramadan (definition). As for those who missed the 'Isha prayer with the Imam, if they have enough time before Tarawih, it is better for them to pray 'Isha in a separate congregation. However, if they enter during Tarawih or if time is short, it is better for them to join the Imam with the intention of praying 'Isha, and then complete their prayer after the Imam performs the Taslim (definition). Sheikh Ibn Baz mentioned that it is better for a congregation to pray 'Isha separately and then join the Tarawih, or to join the Imam with the intention of 'Isha and complete it after the Imam's Taslim. As for an individual, it is better for him to join the Imam with the intention of 'Isha to attain the virtue of congregational prayer.
